The French Government will set up nine new visa application centers in China this year, with one center to be located in Xi'An, according to an announcement on the French embassy’s website.
The French embassy and six consulates issued 770,000 visas to Chinese citizens last year, 40 percent more than in 2014. France has become the most-visited destination in Europe for Chinese tourists, with about 2 million Chinese travelers visiting France last year, according to the French embassy.
The announcement noted that in a bid to make getting a visa easier for Chinese citizens, the French Government decided to set up nine more visa application centers in China this year. There are already six visa applications centers in China.
New centers in Chongqing and Jinan opened Thursday, but the announcement didn’t specify when the rest of centers will open. They will be in Shenzhen, Changsha, Fuzhou, Hangzhou, Kunming, Nanjing and Xi’an.
